6-Week Program:
Intermediate Wheel
Intensive Focus on Line and Form

This comprehensive six-week program expands upon students’ previous experience in clay and focuses on acute detail to line and form. This course is offered with one on-one private instruction, to best refine each student’s throwing skills and delve into an exploration of personal aesthetic. Students will learn how to use tools to their full potential to shape each piece and begin to see visual  proportion. Because this course is focused on students’ attention to detail, students are required to have basic knowledge in clay, i.e. ability to center efficiently and with ease, an understanding of basic pottery terminology, the ability to create multiple cylinders with consistency in height, evenness of walls and base, and basic knowledge of tool usage.

The course outlined below should be considered a guideline for the six weeks. Upon class orientation, the instructor will meet with the student to further tailor the structured syllabus and fulfill their individual needs and desires. Students can expect to fully complete several unique handmade pieces and gain an in-depth understanding of the relationship between line and form.
